Annecy II

Curator’s Comments:  

The luminous photorealistic work Annecy II came up on the site this morning, and I spent some time pleasurably viewing the intricacies within the reflections. I appreciate how the strong symmetry of the still life is uninterrupted by the background architecture, and skillful distortion of parts of it within the glass.  I realize I prefer Annecy II to the first Annecy I because of the square format, which reinforces the equilibrium in the composition, while providing small areas of relief, such as the wine levels.  The inclusion of the crystal rocks glass affords another opportunity to highlight your masterful manipulation of the subject.  This added glass psychologically functions as an interloper in the “couple” represented in the common pairing of two wine glasses. I do hope you consider new work on the site.
