Curator’s Comments:
This Red Square piece posted back in 2012 came up on the site today, and I became enamored with its initial simplicity, and then more complex color relationships with longer viewing. Created in acrylic, I imagine there is semi-transparent red scumbled over a bluish pigment underneath, while white bits in the darker blue and grey sections add visual intrigue and accentuate the linear contours. The slight asymmetry of the design also sets up a slight visual tension. Going back over your other paintings on the site, I see this piece shares a signature style in geometric abstraction, but is also more densely colored in its palette and overall value pattern. I find the saturation of hues a strong compliment to the thin lines. I do hope you continue to share new work on the site.
