Curator’s Comments:

Surfacing is an elegant digital image. I enjoy the warm pink and blue-violet shifts in tonality, as well as the angular cropping of the watery ground.  The geometric edges provide unexpected contrast to the organic forms, while the curve of the fish body fluidly connects the complex and understated patterns.  Looking through your other prints on the site, I recognized the richness of your digital photographs with deep sepia tones. I commented on Suspended Disbelief many years ago. The Dead and the Naked also attracted my attention when it appeared randomly on the site. I’m drawn to the bold symmetrical arrangement of figural elements. The lilies supply a vaguely funerary association; likely conjured by the title that accompanies my viewing. But there is also an enigmatic sense of mystery in the darkness of your work.  The box-like constructions allude to both doorways and shrines, where one cannot know the true space beyond. I do hope you will consider sharing your new work to the site.
