Curator’s Comments:
This cast glass piece identified as Polychromie Oval appeared on the site today. I enjoy the elegant economy of the translucent shapes, which offer a stylized opposing gender relationship. The small features encapsulated within the colored geometric shapes applied over the bodies appear to highlight the adage that our small differences are what attract us to each other. There also appears to be an amorphous blue shape within the larger figure- a blue glow of sorts emanating from its center. The blue hue concludes the primary color triad, again reinforcing formal if not psychological associations with wholeness or completeness. The scale indicated suggests the sculpture maintains a visual intimacy, while allowing the viewer opportunity to appreciate the sleek verticality of the forms.
