“The Moorish Poissonier”

In medieval Venice there were many Moors at court, this one shown as a fish chef, presenting the day’s seafood offerings. A pearl glistens in the basket, as a medieval cog ship rocks outside an arched, shuttered window, allowing a ray of light to filter in. Inspired by my novella’s Hansa Route research.
