Thank you for your kind words about my snake painting. I try to work against my aesthetic tendency to over share or illustrate, and to allow the encaustic medium to reveal painterly marks. It's a struggle between looseness and control.

I'm glad it took you a minute to see the rabbit.  I didn't intend another (Froud-esque) creature next to the rabbit, but now that you mention it, I can't un-see it!

I find myself captivated by this piece.  I can imagine it is so much more impressive in person. I admit I was initially pulled in by what appears to be fruit, leading my eyes to the snake's bold details. I admit I did not see the rabbit at first, but I was pleasantly surprised by your attention to detail in the face. This is a beautiful painting full of textures and details that fills my mind with curiosity.  I know my mind wonders, and I look for things that may or may not be there.  I am a lover of Brian Froud, Salvador Dali, and H.R. Gieiger.  On the right side of this piece, I see what appears to be one of Brian Froud's creatures peeking around the rabbit. You may or may not have done this intentionally, but it has this artist's mind searching.
