Curator’s Comments:
This piece appeared randomly on the site, and I felt compelled to contemplate the image in the context of a digital screen despite its lack of a citation for media or title. As noted by another artist member back in 2009 when it was shared, the rectilinear structure evokes a glowing metaphysical doorway. But revisiting the work now, I’m intrigued by the thought that this does not in fact represent a portal or opening into another space, beyond the projection of cyan light. The proportions of the “door” are closer to a movie screen or monitor, and the top of the piece is devoid of linear seams of walls in a cubic environment. There also appears to be slight “glitches” within the aqua plane and contrasting exterior orange space, while another indecipherable monochromatic image is positioned underneath, as though it is emanating from the initial blue plane of color. Thus I see both mystery and familiarity in these abstractions. I would very much like to know about your concept and process for this piece, and to see how your art practice has continued in recent years. Please do consider sharing new works to the site.
