An International Call for Entries Exploring Conflict

International Deadline: December 8, 2014 - Highly regarded Manifest Creative Research Gallery announces "SCHISM", an international call for entries exploring conflict. SCHISM is open to everyone, the only limitation beyond the general theme is that entries must represent original works which qualify in some considerable way as exploring the theme of CONFLICT.

One might say life itself is a product of conflict. History is riven by it, as is our present-day society. Species vie, nations war, couples fight, ideologies clash—the list goes on. As a force of existence conflict is neutral, but as a force of humanity this is rarely the case. Results of conflict vary, from the horrendous to the miraculous, from destruction to creation. Nevertheless it is an integral part of any evolutionary process and therefore progress.

HOW TO INTERPRET THIS EXHIBIT THEME
Artists are encouraged to take a broadly creative view of the theme. Our multi-member juries enjoy surprise, creative solutions, and most of all exceptionally well put together visual art. Works submitted may represent the theme by formal, literal, or any other means, including by virtue of processes used to create the work.

SUMMARY
SCHISM is a competitive international exhibition of works exploring the theme of CONFLICT. Works selected will represent some point of view, process, image, or idea about this theme.

This exhibit has no predefined expectation for type or style of work to be considered or selected. Submissions can range from the most traditional to the most conceptual, abstract, or experimental. The only criteria beyond excellent quality (image/presentation) is that works must qualify as being clearly related to or about theme of conflict.

ELIGIBILITY
SCHISM is open to everyone. The only limitation beyond the general theme is that entries must represent original works which qualify in some considerable way as exploring the theme of CONFLICT.

MEDIA
Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts media, or similar materials (both two and three-dimensional).

JURY & CURATOR
Manifest's selection process involves a complex two-part system. This exhibit will be juried by an anonymous several-member panel of professional and academic advisors with a broad range of expertise relative to art and design.

PUBLICATION
Manifest Press will produce a high quality hard-cover publication documenting this exhibition, artists, and works shown, along the other new season exhibitions. This continues Manifest's commitment to documentation and dissemination of our projects, and the expansion of physical exhibits into a broader geography and timeframe.
