International Deadline: September 20, 2014 - ARC Gallery announces an international call for artist for its upcoming juried exhibition, "The "F" Word: Feminism Now", to be held November 26-December 20 2014, in our Chicago Gallery. All media considered. There is no size limit.
As ARC was founded in the 70's during the height of the Feminist Art Movement, we have decided to organize a tribute to feminist exhibitions. Rather than revisit the history of Feminist Art and its early leaders, ARC is choosing to celebrate the gallery's feminist history by examining what else Feminist Art is. That is, rather than reducing feminism's meaning to one familiar artist or era, ARC would like to explore what feminist art was, what it has come to be, and where it is going.
In mounting this juried group exhibition, ARC's goal is not to deride or disown dominant associations or previous generations. Our impulse is additive and exploratory rather than denunciatory. ARC hopes to uncover other ways feminism has been, or will be, made visible particularly in regard to the contemporary art scene. To that end, ARC invites submissions that engage, but are not limited to, the following topics:
While this exhibit will be in Chicago, ARC is searching for work from anyone interested in this subject, national or international, all genders. All media considered.
Jeanne Dunning, Professor of Art, Northwestern University
$40 for one to three images. After the flat fee for the first three images, there is a $10. fee for each additional image. There is no limit to the number of submissions. The submission fee is non- refundable even if work is refused. If paying by check, it must be received prior to jurying.
Submission is a two-step process.
No work that was not originally selected by the juror will be hung.
Acceptance of video-based or sound-based art work will require artists to supply their own equipment with simple, complete instructions.
Works will be for sale unless noted as NFS (not for sale) on the entry form. ARC does not take commission on any work sold, but will act as a liaison for sales of the artists' work.
ARC exercises professional care when handling submitted work. We do not assume responsibility or liability including but not limited to accidents, damaged work, or forces of nature.
ACCEPTED WORK: SHIPPING AND DELIVERY
With the exception of hand-delivered and picked-up work, all work shipped to and from the gallery must be paid ahead of time by the artist.
