Art by America, A National Review of 2-Dimensional Art

National Deadline: March 13, 2015 - The Art House is now accepting submissions for 'Art by America', a national review of 2-dimensional art. This exhibition will feature 250 artists residing in America and working in the two-dimensional mediums of painting, drawing, printmaking and/or mixed media.

This annual exhibition is a collaborative effort between the practicing artists of The Art House and Arts on Elston and the field of Art History and Criticism to gather a wide range of submissions in order to determine the two-dimensional contemporary visual art trends and traditions across America.

VENUE - Exhibition Dates: June 1-30, 2015
Selected artist will participate in a curated, month-long, on-site exhibition that spans two Chicago galleries.

JURY
The jury for this prestigious, first annual project is James Yood and Ginny Voedisch. The exhibition featuring 250 artists will be curated by Rebecca George, Founder/Director of The Art House and Faculty at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Arthur Connor, Owner/Director of Arts on Elston gallery.

ELIGIBILITY
For submission to project, consideration of top cash prizes and awards, art must be original, and fall into one of the following material categories: painting, drawing, printmaking or mixed media.

All entrants meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered for exhibition. 250 artists will be accepted and exhibited and be eligible for awards and prizes. Only two dimensional media will be considered for the 250 displayed works for the on-site, month- long exhibition, including painting, printmaking, drawing, pastel and mixed media. Sculpture, photography, and digital art are not eligible.

Work considered for on-site exhibition may not be exceed 20” in height or width, and 4” in thickness, including frame. Work cannot be accepted from non-U.S. addresses.

PRESENTATION
Work selected for exhibition must be suitably framed and ready for hanging by the submitting artist. Drawings, prints, watercolors and pastels must be under Plexiglass. (Glass is not permissible.)

FEES
$49 entry fee allows each artist to submit 1-2 images, a resume and artist’s statement.

SALES
All work will be for sale unless the artist informs the gallery to the contrary. All proceeds from sales will go to the artist.

SUBMISSION

NOTICE
The Art House will make every effort to notify all applicants of juror’s decision by April 5, 2015.

RECEIVING
Shipped work must be postmarked and mailed by April 20, 2015 in a sturdy, reusable container.

LIABILITY
All possible care will be taken with the all the art work, but The Art House nor any of its affiliates/partners will be responsible for any loss or damage to the work while in transit to or from or on display in the gallery. Travel insurance is the responsibility of the artist.
