National Deadline: March 24, 2014 - Artists working in all media are encouraged to submit work to the third annual Icons of the West, a juried exhibition to be held at the Dana Gallery in Missoula, Montana during May and June 2014. All works must be completed within the last two years with preference for works created especially for this show.
Work must not exceed 40 inches in any direction and works on paper must be behind glass. Non-traditional and new-media works (film, installation, etc.) will be scrutinized on a case-by-case basis.
CATEGORIES & AWARDS
There is a $2500 Cash Award for Best of Show. Additionally, to encourage artistic exploration, there will be a $1000 award for Most Original Interpretation of the Theme. There will also be a $500 Cash award given for Best in the following categories:
The entry fee is $35.
Up to five images may be submitted for entry, including a maximum of three works and two details, to be labeled as follows:
LASTNAME.TITLE.MEDIUM.DIMENSIONS (for details include dt#1,2,etc.,).
Files can be jpeg or tif and should be 4x6 at 300 dpi. Accepted works that do not accurately reflect the submitted images will not be exhibited.
To enter send e-mail to email@example.com with the completed application [pdf] and images attached, subject line reading: Icons 2014 Application. If you prefer you may mail the application to Dana Gallery (images on a CD) along with the $35 check. If applying by e-mail please include credit card information or you may also send a check or pay over the phone.
Please attach a description along with your application if accommodations need to be made for installation/presentation of such work.
An independent jury will review the submissions.
Accepted artists will receive a letter outlining the exhibition, delivery dates and gallery contract. Artists are responsible for the cost of shipping work back.
All works must be for sale. The Dana Gallery will retain a 50% commission on each sale.
To enhance marketing opportunities during the summer season, the gallery retains the right for work to remain with the gallery and for sale until August 15, 2014.

The Dana Gallery opened in downtown Missoula in September, 1996. We occupy 4000 square feet of space, making us the largest contemporary art gallery in Montana. We represent over 40 Montana and regional painters many of whom are internationally recognized. The styles of the artists that we represent vary from contemporary to traditional.
