Curator’s Comments:
She was posted back in 2009, but remains a popular image on the site. The allure of the piece, for me, partially revolves around the ambiguity of the reflected and pooling shapes. The female silhouette is immediately seen in the darker recessed areas. With longer viewing, I find my eyes rest in what appears to be the reflection of a partial figure/face to the left center of the composition. Obscured by the white flash of light, the image nonetheless suggests hair, and a pink-orange mouth. The metallic blue-violet surfaces surrounding these mysterious shapes also attracts the viewer. There’s a jewel-like quality in the gritty iridescence, and the blue gives way to green-gold as it moves up the picture plane. I’ve appreciated your more recognizable figurative photographs in the past. They all share a lush sense of color and form. She is no exception. I do hope you consider posting new works on the site. I would love to see where your work has taken you.
