Curator’s Comment:
It’s a true pleasure to view your new work on the site. Your recently completed trio Impending Autumn I exhibits your highly personalized signature style, but with fresh new approaches to space, and tighter vignettes of color saturation. I’m struck by the amount of open space in the first digital painting, and the surprising asymmetrical distribution of visual weight. For me, the pale blue-green rectangle reads as a physical barrier to the silvery grey background layer. Both the “imperfections” or fissures in the blue-green panel as well as the feathery white shape are luminous. The understatement of their tonalities is the perfect stage for the more intensely articulated droplet shapes that emerge from a linear web at the center. The deep green droplets, surrounded by warmer colored halos, appear to reflect and magnify each other’s importance in the piece. While I’ve enjoyed the micro/macrocosmic relationships your works often present, I see this triptych as even more celestial than seasonal shifts suggested in the title. This is really gorgeous work.
