Curator’s Comments:
I’m so pleased to see your new pieces on the site. I recognized them immediately, but appreciate the airier, lighter touch in some of the new spaces. The first Improvisation is particularly engaging, as the relationship between the pink-violet floral forms and the small bits of green spray imply a symbiotic relationship, or the detectable releasing of pollen. I also enjoy the way in which the smooth forms are fragmented from within, with thin crossing lines. Rather than segmenting the dominant shapes in a predictable manner, they suggest an underlying, unseen biological structure. These ‘ghost lines’ also serve to visually slow down the eye, while providing fluid movement. The second digital painting by the same title suggests a delicate insect in flight. But while fish and insects are interlaced across your subject matter and studio practice, I interpret the abstraction as keeping the animated characters from being tethered to any one particular species. Instead, they offer the viewer a glimpse into evolution and transfiguration. These new pieces maintain an ethereal beauty that evokes a flux in time.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
