Portfolios: April 2012 Curator Reviewed Art
Comment
I like the strokes toward the center. It gives the piece an interesting intricacy.
Wonderful work. Appears to be descriptive and expressive representations of strata, shifting perspective, forms in he sky.
wow, how vibrant, great colour, has an almost textured embroidered feel to the work.
I love the linear qualities, which sweep across the page.
Curator’s Comment:
This landscape has all of the tumulus rhythmic patterns that seem to be a signature of your other pieces, but the white negative space gives it more room to breathe. The soft, ethereal lines in the top section skillfully balance the earthy richness in the middle portion, while the layered stratification interestingly reveals an archeological slice of the land, rather than the expected earth/sky horizon. I also like the saturated and complementary orange-blue middle section, as counterbalanced by the more neutralized hues spreading out form the center. The smaller elements- dots and dashes- suggest shorthand script for an ecological survey, but function as decorative motif. All I Have similarly captures my attention and interest because of the compartmentalization of organic foliage and the interesting visual rift between the articulated image in the center (photographic?) and linear bands spread out and away from it in all directions.
