Curator’s Comments:
It’s always a pleasure to view your new pieces on the site. Water immediately transmits your signature aesthetic through diaphanous veils of pale blue hues. The light turquoise to violet transitions conjure an aquatic sensibility reinforced by the title, but I also see the undulating form as an insect wing or fish fin. The cropped shape implies the viewing of a part of a larger whole on a microcosmic scale, with smooth white edging that simply glows. The small colored dots and droplets in the section to the right add an area of focal emphasis to the composition formally, but also support the vision of a biologic entity. I enjoy the floating sensation delivered by pale violet ground. It’s a beautiful piece; soothing and yet dynamic in movement. The second new digital work posted, entitled Earth, is equally mysterious and engaging in its organic abstraction. The viewer may interpret a leaf-like form as we search for things the mind already knows. I’m intrigued by the dual positioning of the large droplet shape- the lighter version functions as an echo of the dark outlined and articulated drop. The repetition of similar lines and color in the secondary “leaf” shape also grounds the image. But in totality, suggestions of leaves and wings fall away, as all representation remains within your invented world of flowing forms to conjure purely elemental currents and forces in play.
