Curator’s Comments:
Mousehunt is an intriguing amalgamation of contorted figurative elements, suggesting a surreal animal phylum. But the pinkish coloration is also fleshy and subtly raw; bringing and grounding a corporeal connotation to the idea of living (visionary) spirit. The light background on which the fragments float is equally organic and visceral. I enjoy the value contrast created, but also the transient mottling of dappled light. The square composition format also helps to create a dynamic equilibrium between the shapes, denying a linear or atmospheric reading of the environment. I do hope to see more of your paintings on the site.
