Clockwork Butterflies No. 6

For my first entry on the Artists2artists blog, I would like to feature a painting that was completed over many months. The earlier paintings in this series were more realistic in the interpretation of the clock gears, but ended up being somewhat monochromatic. I purposefully decided to forgo the realistic approach in favor of a more colorful approach in this one, and am quite satisfied with the the results. And discoveries made in by creating this painting has led me to immediately begin another in this series...
