Artists2artists Social Network

Brought to you by ArtDeadline.Com

I've been working on my website, my site was 2 years out of date so I decided to make my own site using WordPress . I have more work to go on it but here it is so far:- www.michelleconnollyart.com I welcome feedback. The business of art and networking is on my mind for 2012 and my intention is to expand my audience and show my work here in US and internationally. Together with the website I have a Facebook Page MIchelleConnollyArt which I regularly post work to and I have decided to get a book of some of my recent works printed using Blurb.com. I am interested in sharing promotional ideas with other working artists in the marketplace.

Hi Michelle, It looks  very good. I love the banner photo of your studio, but your art, which is the most important thing, opens on my Mac pretty small. In other words, you have a nice big photo of your work bench and a much smaller photo of your work. Does that make sense?

Next the text. Your font and spacing is very readable, that's good. But your content is a series of short, kind of dry, "I" statements. Your writing style on your portfolio page is more engaging. Can you see the difference in the two styles?

Remember that your first page is the first impression and needs to be a wow so that visitors want to enter the site. Choose one or two of your best pieces. Give information that immediately, in the first two sentences, says what your art is about, and that are relevant to search engines. Use your keywords in those sentences: mixed media, paintings, collage, faces, animals, abstract.

Portfolio pages: you've got titles, good. Size, medium, and an interesting story about each one.

Hope this helps,

Laurel
