I’m very happy to see you active on the site this week- I always enjoy viewing your new pieces. Dance of the Lark holds my attention most within this recent installment, after it initially presents as an uplifting and buoyant piece. The split between a macabre fantasy realm and the natural kingdom is especially striking in this intricate scratchboard and ink drawing, through a literal division of worlds. The manipulation of the violet (sea-cucumber like) creatures is particularly pleasing, slowing down the activity. As the creatures move and twist upwards out of dark green water, they become more articulated as they break into the Lark’s open air. The manner in which the sweeping hatched lines pull the bird slightly downward to meet them suggests she skirts away from threatening entities. It occurs to me that many of your “monsters” are animated in such a way that the high chroma color diffuses their implied menace, creating a narrative duality of sorts. The color palette also provides a pleasing draw into moments of conflict and danger.  Thank you for posting these new works. I feel as though these are all short installments of a longer, epic piece.
