Thank you so much for your thoughtful and insightful comments on my pieces.  I always value and appreciate your input, especially when you view current pieces in the context of my broader body of work.  Being a musician in addition to visual artist, the reference to sound is important in my artwork.   I’m gratified that you understand and relate to that aspect.  I would love permission to repost your beautiful and poetic words.

Thank you for the kind words on "Dance of the Lark" :).  You're pretty spot on when you say my pieces are like part of something bigger.  That piece is going into a picture book I'm writing called The Lark Ascending, about one of the last living species from our time taking an annual journey across very obscure environments and habitats, dominated by monsters who absolutely adore her and partake in different activities when she passes by.  If you're curious, here's a link the gallery for the story so far on my site on my site.  It has more descriptive narratives about each enviroment, monster, and activity.

All my other work and projects are on that site too.  Most of my stuff goes into a bigger story or at least a collection.  It's all work I'm very passionate about.  Unfortunately none of it has ever been published or featured :/

Right now I'm an entry level illustrator who's been looking for work for about a year now, so it's good to hear complements about my work from someone who happens to come across it.  I'll never stop doing work but the field is just absolutely heartbreaking at points.

Many thanks for your kind review of The Greedy.  I am immersed in the very slow process of understanding this complicated poem Commedia, looking at the distant past, how it relates to the alarming present and the personal.  In these my late years it would be amusing to eventually arrive at Paradiso.  The Greedy, as I recall, is commenting on materialism.

Dear Kristen

I liked your suggestion about the Red Queen/White Queen possibly being a split personality.  Perhaps on some level I am expressing that.  However the real reason is not as interesting..perhaps.  "Alice though the Looking Glass" has always been a favorite of mine, very quotable with interesting insights.  The most interesting, to me, is when she is on a hill and looks over the fields, woods and streams below.  She exclaims "why it is a huge game of chess being played over the whole world" (something like that").  I think "yes indeed".  So the painting is based on a chess board but I wanted to break it down and not make it so rigid.  I tried to figure out, more or less how the moves might work out, for example the knight has moved from his starting spot to forth spot from the left second row down.  The whole piece could be savagely taken apart if one is a chess player.  Different images play the queen, king etc, the pawns remain the same.  That is where the fun was for me.

Come to think of it I have not really answered your question. Of course in chess they are in opposition but perhaps they also can represent the split personality. 

It may need further work.

thanks for your comments from Nov 18 on my painting 'Three Women Eating' - haven't logged in for some time. Your analysis is very perceptive and shows me things I would not have been able to see or put into words myself! Clive. I feel motivated to update my gallery..
