Curator’s Comments:
Cheda Garage was posted several years ago, and it attracted my attention today because I was intrigued by the slight visual skewing of the rather ordinary urban scene. The drawing offers both a feeling of spontaneously in the handling of the media (maybe chalk pastel?) and solid construction. There’s a mysterious, and perhaps vaguely worrying dark corridor to the parking garage, which draws the exterior world into a dark portal on the left. The viewer/driver is confronted with choice of direction which split in the immediate foreground of the picture. Perhaps I’m reading more significant, or narrative content into the everyday space. Streetcorner II shares this inviting darkness of the mundane, and causes the viewer to hesitate a bit longer to consider what is usually overlooked, among your other restful or dreamy landscapes. I do hope you continue to post new work on the site.
