Happy Halloween for all that celebrate! A search for holiday themed artworks on the site brought Pumpkin to my attention. The object certainly takes center stage in the piece, and the viewer can sense the weight of the form on the striped cloth table. For all of the chromatic variation in the actual pumpkin, it’s the blue shadows in the cloth that make the painting most enjoyable for me. I particularly like the rolled folded sections and angled drop from the edge of the table. While I imagine the intent was a purely formal still life study, the pumpkin takes on the persona of a lone figure in space. Since this painting was shared back in 2011 I hope you consider uploading new work, and new renditions of pumpkins you may have created.
