Lost wax bronze casting

By taking silk ties and manipulating them into free form serpentine compositions cast in bronze, I create a type of illusion. Is it a tie or a serpent? If you compare the stigmas of both, “Loose Ties” series has substance and makes you think. This is a very different series for me. It’s a medley of all my art and life experiences. It’s my “Picasso Bull’s Head”. A combination of thinking outside the box mixed with my fascination of nature and its creations. The fact that it seems so relevant for these times makes it a pure and personal success for me. I strive to be original. I think good work should withstand the test of time and trends.

Curator’s Comments:
Loose Ties series-Old Ties recently attracted my attention on the site. The oval mahogany frame with Novus Ordo Seclorum engraved on the scroll along the bottom edge adds to the aesthetic sensibility of antiquity and artifact. The ties themselves are curious objects, organic and pliable and yet seemingly frozen in approximated ribbons of copper or lead. The triadic placement of the ties within the frame also suggests an embedded hierarchy to the disembodied specimens- a “New Order of the Ages” if we translate the Latin. Of course the play on “loose ties” and “old ties” in the title throws all relationships into question. It’s an interesting conceptual piece, and I enjoy the way it visually looks back and forward with these malleable associations.
