Curator’s Comments:
I had the pleasure of coming across the installation entitled Techline Series; Food for Thought today, even though it was created back in 2012. The multidimensional, and seemingly mixed media construction plays with the viewers’ concepts of architectural scale and illusion. We appear to be confronted with a rather formidable diorama, and then a two-dimensional rendering of the structures behind those sculptures. The slight and opposing tilts of the square windows animate the rectilinear forms; their sway becomes even more pronounced and gestural in the diptych behind. While it’s difficult to make out the specific detail in the small figural forms in this photograph, I get the sense I’m viewing a stage set for a more complex urban narrative. The bright pastel hues of the buildings are an enticing contrast to the dark sky in the painting. The shifting mood of color could suggest the transition of a story, or simply depict the passage of time. Looking back through your other works on the site, I remember enjoying your fantastical, fairy-tale like stories of the Adventures of Dusty Gray. These works are full of humor and joy, and I hope in the subsequent years since you posted you’ve exhibited and published these creative works.
