choral.jpg At The Nightingale Gallery last night I saw something that I have been waiting to see for a long time, a

one person show featuring Celeste Neuhaus. Celeste is, if you don't

already know, an artist that is wholly in touch with her experience and

lives her life honestly to that end. This show, which also has a few

video pieces,…

Posted on April 13, 2010 at 11:31am 0 Comments

The upcoming Chicago Latino Film Festival is going to be filled with

great works from around the world, but one of the most anticipated

Chicago debuts will be very local. Esaú Meléndez, a local filmmaker, is

making waves with his documentary "Immigrant Nation: A Battle for the

Dream". He is excited to make the films local debut after recently

winning the Cine Latino Award at the 2010 DC International Film Fest.

It all started when Esaú found himself…

PaulNudd1.jpg As most of you already know I love a good studio visit, and doing ChicagoArts allows me to visit some of the

most interesting studios in the area. I recently met with Paul Nudd who many of you may already be familiar with, due to his prolific showings over the past few years.

Paul is a drawer, he also paints and makes collages, but…

thanks for your comments about the work martin. actually, i have been working on reducing the tonal range in the pieces. if you go to my website www.zkartz.com you will see older work (particularly the "synthetic worlds" series) they are strongly figure ground. i will probably go back and forth - i just tend to try to work on an approach that helps me learn something new. reducing figure/ground puts extra stress on getting the color right, and color is what i am working on mostly at the moment. yes, the pieces are quite urban - i agree about that. in a year of two when we move to the country, it will be interesting to see if that element fades. thanks again! j

Hi Martin. I'really appreciate your personality. You are so involved, so altruistic and vibrant. Still in your works I can see surrealistic characters in solitude and drama wich tell me a story of a constant realistic research for a better society, Thanks.
